Brendan's Labyrinth

When shall we begin?
In our sentient coracle,
Casting-off from shore
On this surrogate sea.

My steps have held to your paths; my feet have not slipped. I call on you, O God, for you will answer me.

Who will navigate our way?
From the edge of the world
To the to the Heart of God?
Perigrino we; he the pilot.

I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free.

What wind to catch?
Wild goose leading.
What ballast loosed?
Along the paths of this sea?

Teach me your way, O Lord; and I will walk in your truth.

One more tack, then Home.
Our beginning and our end.
In the still harbour held,
Gazed upon by Love.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

Home indeed, but briefly.
The wind is blowing; the tide turns
Again towards the edge we travel
Refreshed and stilled for life.

Therefore go and make disciples…And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
